Flute stands for File Delivery over Unidirectional Transport. It is a protocol for the uni-directional delivery of files over the Internet, which is particularly suited to multicast networks, in this case DVB-H network. A Flute server takes care of the delivery of the files needed for a DVB-H transmission.
Icareus Playout FLUTE Server CS300 complies with RFC 3926 with file delivery over IPv6 and IPv4. In addition, the FLUTE Server provides FDT Instance customizing for deployments that require additional elements to the XML document structure. For example, some deployments flag entries in the FDT Instance to belong to a particular file object group such as ESG or SDP. The file objects are deployed to the FLUTE Server using a custom remote protocol.
