TVM is a major TV Station in Mozambique. Destinos is one of the leading local production houses. TVM requested a new format from Destinos different from everything ever broadcasted in Mozambique for an audience of young adults.
“We provided a show to TVM based on interactivity that surprises everybody because it is so funny and entertaining - it really makes people participate in the show. The results were great!”, says Jorge Jacinto, who was in charge of the local production for TVM.
TVM was provided a 3D Virtual animation and quality Call TV show with a live host. The audience could participate in the show by sending SMS messages which a virtual character then spoke to the host (SMS-based speech).
TVM defined the following goals to the TV show, and they were achieved:
- To broadcast a totally different show - give a clear message to competitors and the market that TVM is an appealing and the most innovative TV station and is also ready to answer the needs of the market changes
- To make the target group of young people participate by airing lucrative and new content
- To receive high revenues
A format with several virtual characters speaking with a live host was developed. In the format the virtual characters say out loud the content of SMS messages sent by the viewers. Text-to-speech technology was used in order to create a genuine feeling. Simple quiz-based home contest TV show allowed people to participate and win money prizes. The atmosphere was young and conversational, at times even polemic.
